C Spire and the performers also will honor members of the military, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and the U.S. Coast Guard, for their service to the country in recognition of Armed Forces Day during the concert.

Chesney, an 8-time Entertainer of the Year with 28 No. 1 country songs and over 30 million albums sold, is coming off a highly successful 32 city, 23 state and Canada “Spread the Love” Tour this year where the uber-talented singer-songwriter performed with other popular stars, including Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt and Old Dominion, in sold out stadiums and arenas across the country.

The 48-year-old Grammy-nominated Knoxville, Tennessee native is considered one of music’s top touring artists and has won numerous Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music awards for his singing and songwriting over a 23-year career. Chesney’s success and popularity spawned the creation of “No Shoes Nation,” the nickname for his legion of tailgating fans.

Chesney will be honored next month with two of the top awards in country music from Broadcast Music, Inc. (President’s Award) and CMA (Pinnacle Award) for his singing, songwriting, record sales and international touring success. He just released his 11th album, “Cosmic Hallelujah,” today, which features a hit duet “Setting the World on Fire” with Pink.

Joining Chesney on the big stage will be Rhett, who already has recorded three No. 1 hits and received Billboard’s top country song and single of the year from ACM, ACCA and CMA Artist of the Year in 2016; Owen, a singer-songwriter with six Billboard No. 1 country songs; Kramer, a country music star and actress (One Tree Hill) currently performing on Dancing with the Stars and Dickerson, a singer-songwriter with over 20 million streams on Spotify and 2 million views on YouTube who performed here in 2013.

This is the fourth major music concert hosted by C Spire in Madison County. In 2013, Darius Rucker, the former front man for Hootie and the Blowfish, rocked the stage with tracks from his True Believers album. In 2015, Lambert, the reigning queen of country music and its top female performer, was the featured headliner artist. Last year, Florida Georgia Line, the mega-popular country music duo, performed before a sellout crowd of over 10,000 country music fans.

City and company officials said they are looking forward to bringing in more top-caliber entertainment to Mississippi. “We’re proud to partner with C Spire to host some of the best country music entertainment around and excited to continue to provide these type of premium quality of life experiences for our residents and visitors,” said Madison Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler.

The concerts already have been a major economic boost to the region over the last three years – generating over $3 million from more than 25,000 country music fans who travel to the area from other parts of the state and the U.S., stay in local hotels, shop at local businesses and dine in local restaurants.

“We’re pleased to partner once again with Baptist Health Systems and the city of Madison to bring Kenny Chesney and some of the best new country music artists to our state, which has a long, rich tradition for being known as the birthplace of America’s music,” said Jim Richmond, vice president of Corporate Communications for C Spire.

Richmond said industry research, including Nielsen’s Soundscan, CMA and Billboard, all show that country music continues to be the most popular format in the U.S. today among all age groups and listeners with over 100 million fans. “As a company that gets our inspiration from customers, we’re pleased to provide them with opportunities to enjoy some of the best entertainment around,” he added.

About Kenny Chesney
Kenny Chesney defines what it means to be a 21st century country star. Beyond the eight Entertainer of the Year awards, a CMA Album of the Year award for When the Sun Goes Down and ACM Top Male Vocalist and Single of the Year awards for “The Good Stuff;” the 28 No. 1s, 30-plus million albums sold, his place as the only Nashville act on Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Artists of the Last 25 years and 135 major stadiums sold out, the high-impact songwriter-superstar from East Tennessee remains about the music first and foremost. Signed by Troy Tomlinson to Acuff-Rose and working the dive bars on Lower Broadway, Kenny learned writing from the best of the old guard, developing a respect for and knowledge of what makes a song great. Signed by Phil Walden to Capricorn Records, his “The Tin Man” showed a writer-artist coming into his own – a trend that continued throughout his 30-million-plus-album selling career. The Big Revival album yielded four No. 1 hits; the Grammy-nominated “American Kids,” “Til It’s Gone,” CMA, ACM and Grammy-nominated “Wild Child” featuring Grace Potter and the three-week chart-topper, “Save It For A Rainy Day.” Always looking to stretch the limit without losing his roots, Kenny follows with today’s release of his new Cosmic Hallelujah album featuring a stunning “Setting the World on Fire” with Pink. Deemed “The King of the Road” by the Wall Street Journal and “The People’s Superstar” by the Los Angeles Times, Chesney remains committed to capturing peoples’ lives in his music.
